Invasive roots can be a huge problem for homeowners, especially when they grow into your sewer line. They often form blockages in the line and cause drainage problems for the sink, toilet, and tub. Extreme cases of root blockages can lead to in-home flooding, so it’s best to solve this problem as soon as possible.
How to Remove Roots From the Sewer Line
The best way to clear roots from your line is with high-pressure water jetting. This method works better than sending an auger down the line to cut the roots. Augers often leave some roots behind, allowing them to grow back and cause future blockages.
Our pressure jet blasts the roots from all sides, making your line look brand new when we’re finished.
Preventing Roots From Growing Back into the Line
Once all the roots have been cleared out, you may want to use a root killer to prevent them from growing back into the line. If not, replacing the line with a sturdier one is another option.
Roots often grow around the joints of sewer lines, as this is where moister typically gathers. Slowly, they will work their way into the joints and spread throughout the line once they are inside. The best way to prevent this from happening is installing a new line with tighter seals around the joints, or one with no joints at all.
If neither of these options sound appealing to you, you can also schedule regular pressure jetting to keep the roots from giving you problems.
